Musical Breathwork

Your body is fighting a threat that isn’t here anymore.

Your body is still preparing for something that already passed

Most people think they’re trying to be free. But underneath it, they’re trying to stay in control. Control of outcomes, emotions, perception. And the tighter they hold, the less available they become. I started noticing where I was gripping—subtle contractions in the jaw, in the voice, in my gaze. What we call “control” is often just a nervous system trying to avoid sensation. And in doing that, it limits what we can feel, create, and respond to.

You can feel it when your breath won’t drop all the way down. When your jaw holds just enough to stay guarded. When the body stays slightly braced, even in stillness. That’s not stability—it’s restriction. So we changed the sequence. Breathe to release the grip. Feel what the body has been holding. Listen without needing to fix it. Decide from a system that isn’t braced for impact, but open to flow. And in that moment, what we thought was freedom wasn’t something to find—it was something we stopped resisting.
