Next Level Human Podcast

With Dr. Jade Teta

Description: Brooke McPoyle shares her journey from being a classically trained singer to a golfer and how she discovered the connection between breath, fascia, and the nervous system. She explains how regulating the breath can regulate the nervous system and fascial holding patterns. Brooke emphasizes the importance of slowing down the breath rate to activate the parasympathetic nervous system and reduce stress. She also discusses the role of humming and singing in vibrating the vagus nerve and creating fluidity in the body. Brooke's goal is to find a sequence that allows the body to handle gamma brain waves and optimize brain function. In this conversation, Brooke McPoyle and Jade Teta discuss the connection between brain waves, breath, and fascia. They explore how chronic stress and tension can impact the body and brain waves, and how breathwork and fascia release can help restore balance. They also touch on the concept of gamma brainwave states and how they relate to mystical experiences and personal transformation. Brooke provides resources for self-assessment and offers recommendations for starting the process of regulating the nervous system and releasing stored traumas.

Takeaways

Regulating the breath can regulate the nervous system and fascial holding patterns.

Slowing down the breath rate activates the parasympathetic nervous system and reduces stress.

Humming and singing can vibrate the vagus nerve and create fluidity in the body.

The goal is to find a sequence that allows the body to handle gamma brain waves and optimize brain function. Chronic stress and tension can trap brain waves in a high beta wave pattern, leading to elevated stress levels and a lack of relaxation.

Breathwork and fascia release can help release tension in the body and create space for slower brainwave patterns.

Gamma brainwave states are characterized by a relaxed body, slow and deep breath, and harmonized brain waves, and can be accessed through conscious regulation of the nervous system.

Endings and beginnings play a crucial role in shaping our perception and experience of reality, and it is important to approach them with gratitude and a focus on the positive.

Our bodies are electromagnetic frequency beings, and as we harmonize the rhythms of the brain, breath, and body, we can tap into the full potential of our brain and experience a calm and peaceful state.

The Deep Podcast

With Dan & Elise

Fascia is one of those things that many of us have heard about, maybe we’ve foam rolled a bit or had a deep fascial massage, but very few people actually understand the extent of its importance and the role it plays in all aspects of our health & wellness.

That is exactly what we get into throughout this conversation as Brooke shares her insights and expertise into the science, structure, and functions of our fascia, as well as why she recommends that we make regular fascial hygiene as common as brushing our teeth. We also get into the nervous system, the breath, and the interconnectedness of all of them in reducing stress, optimizing our health, slowing down the aging process, and becoming superhuman.

Brooke is a multifaceted professional with a unique journey bridging diverse disciplines. Beginning her training in classical singing at the age of 12, she developed a deep understanding of breath control and physiology—an expertise that later intertwined with her pursuits in athletics and holistic health. After excelling in Division 1 college golf tournaments, she confronted the challenges of managing adrenaline and performance anxiety, which ultimately redirected her focus towards natural health and wellness.

In 2016, Brooke co-founded a groundbreaking Health Center in Delray Beach, blending her passions for natural medicine and education. Here, she pioneered breathwork techniques, drawing parallels between breathing patterns, brain waves, fascia, and the nervous system—a revelation stemming from her diverse interests as a beekeeper, musician, painter, and gardener.

Her journey led to a profound thesis: the intricate interplay between breath, fascia, and nervous system function. This discovery fuels her mission to empower individuals worldwide with practical tools to manage stress and optimize well-being. Driven by her belief in early education, she strives to integrate this knowledge into mainstream wellness practices, ensuring future generations can harness these insights from an early age.

Ep. 79 | The Brain-Breath-Fascia Connection: Activate Your Self-Healing Power with Brooke McPoyle

Dear Friends, Please join me for an inspiring and powerfully practical conversation with Brooke McPoyle as we explore the intersection of breath, fascia, electromagnetism and health. With a rich background that spans opera singing to Division I golfing and a deep dive into breath science and physiology, Brooke passionately shares about the profound implications of breath and fascial work on physical health, mental clarity and emotional resilience.

Brooke critiques common misconceptions in the breathwork community, especially one-size-fits-all practices that can exacerbate the stress response. Advocating for a more nuanced approach, she explains how specific practice of breathing, grounding and facial compression can significantly enhance nervous system function and mobility, radically upleveling our total wellbeing.

Brooke McPoyle is a classically trained singer who learned an operatic style of breathwork at 12 years old. In college she played Division 1 golf, learning the intense effect of adrenaline on the nervous system. She quit the sport after college after feeling she didn't have enough control to handle pro tournaments. She started teaching breathwork in 2016 in Delray Beach, and began to see a dynamic relationship between the breath rhythm & the state of the nervous system.

She trained with an Apache medicine man who was taught by Tibetan monks. Her studies of Arnold Ehret, music, beekeeping, & ground force reaction made her look at the breath as an equation. By deducing what she was witnessing to an equation she began to see a pattern that she calls the Brain & Breath Connection. In her studies she relates the Fascia system as the instrumental strings of the body and the breath as the force that moves through it.

Enjoy watching me bravely trying to be a good student of the live practices Brooke offers :-) … and try them for yourself!

Breathe IS Life!

Join Tanja with her special guest Brooke from Musical Breathwork.

The interconnectedness of stress, pleasure, and the nervous system is profound. Indeed, our breathing rhythm plays a crucial role in regulating mental health. The ancient Taoist masters recognized the flow of chi, or life energy, as essential to the harmony between body, mind, and spirit. This chi, or breath of the universe, is the glue that binds our inner and outer worlds.

When we breathe deeply and rhythmically, we influence the autonomic nervous system, which controls automatic bodily functions. This regulation can lead to a balanced state where blood vessels relax, digestive processes improve, and hormonal balance is achieved. Essentially, deep and balanced breathing can enhance overall physiological and psychological health.
